3rd Annual Christmas Card Workshop

Only a few more days until Halloween!  That means the holidays are right around the corner and it's time to start getting ready.  Join me for my 3rd Annual Holiday Card Making Workshop on Thursday, November 14 at 7PM.

This year you will have the choice of 6 different cards to create using two different papers.

The first 3 are created with CTMH's Sparkle and Shine Paper Pack.  These cards are clean, bright and cheery.

Using the same designs, these next 3 cards were created using CTMH Frosted Paper Pack.  They are a little more muted using colonial white cards with classic holiday colors.
Below are the following separate cards you can chose from.
Card 1.-
Card 2.
 Card 3.
 Card 4-
 Card 5-
 Card 6-
Create as many cards as you would like.  Create just one card multiple times or chose a variety of cards.  Whatever you desire.  Each card costs $1 and includes twine, sparkles and an envelope.  RSVP no later than Thursday, October 31st.  Make sure to include, which cards you would like to make and how many of each you would like.  For example; I would like to make 10 cards of Card 1 and 5 cards of Card.  Hope this makes sense.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Looking forward to a fun evening.  Can't wait to get into the holiday spirit.

See you all soon!

Don't Waste the Chantilly Elements

I had a great time creating several Clean and Simple Cards for this weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge.  For the following two cards I decided to use the remaining Chantilly Dimensional Elements I had left over from my Scrappy Creations Class.  It was fun to play around and see what I could create with out a stamped image.  Remember, the zip strip with phrases on them make great card sentiments.
This 2nd card turned out pretty.  I love how clean and crisp it looks.  It just goes to show that a stamped sentiment and a few chipboard elements are all you need with this pretty Chantilly paper.

Beauty, Love, Home

Close to my Heart's February Stamp of the Month was just what I needed to make this clean and simple card for this weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge.  Think it will make the perfect anniversary card.  Don't you just love the new Chantilly papers?   They are so light and airy, plus all the patterns go so well together.
Remember, only a few days to get this cute stamp set.  Purchase it for only $5 when you spend $50 or more on Close to My Heart Products.  Or get it for full retail price of $17.95.  This stamp set is only available until the end of February.  Shop Now!

Hugs and Kisses

CTMH's "Whoo's Your Valentine" stamp set was perfect for my Valentine's Cards this year.  Three stamped images, some random stamped hearts and a few flags using Close to my Heart's new silver glitter paper, helped to create this super cute card.
In addition to the card the kids helped me make some "hugs" and "kisses" to put into the cards we are sending to the grandparents.  They were fun to make, especially the kisses.  What little girl doesn't love putting on bright red lipstick making kiss marks?  Even I got in on the fun.
This card is perfect for this week's Heart to Heart Challenge.  Make sure you stop by and see all the great love inspired artwork.

Simply Irresistible!

January's Scrappy Creation Class will be creating 3 beautiful cards using a simple but eye catching technique called embossed resist stamping.  Did you know an embossed image will resist ink? To create this pretty lace looking image I embossed the image in clear and then sponged 3 different colors (olive, chocolate and slate) on the image to create this pretty effect.  I love how the image popped.  The resist technique really showcases the details of this pretty stamp set.
The design was inspired by this weeks Mojo Monday sketch.
Check out more creations on the Mojo Monday Blog.

This card was created using Close to my Heart's Avonlea Workshop on the Go.

Fall Leaves

Sometimes the more simple a card is, the more beautiful it is.  I think that is true with this simple yet, stunning card.
This week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge was to use the stamping technique of "rolling."  To do that, you simply pick a solid stamp, ink it in a lighter color first, then roll the edges in a darker ink to get a two toned effect.  I rolled the leaves, using two color combinations (Goldrush and Autumn TerracottaAutumn Terracotta and Barn Red) to get this very subtle tone on toned look.

Although this CTMH stamp set is no longer available, you could use this same technique and design with any solid stamp set.  Here are few I would recommend;
Fall Harvest
Harvest Happiness
Snowflakes (How cute would it be to make Christmas "Thank You's" with this Stamp set?)
Paisley Flair
Love Blooms

Don't forget to add a sweet sentiment to your card, with the For Every Occasion Stamp Set.

Make sure to participate in my "Blogtober Fest" online gathering and receive an entry for a free paper pack or 2 Studio J layouts.  Go to my Online Business Website, join "Amy's Blogtober Fest" to purchase any Close to My Heart product.  Check out my post here for more info.   Check out the "While Supplies Last" section too for some fantastic deals.

Matchbook Treat Cards

I always love to create fun treat containers to give to those special trick-or-treaters that stop by on Halloween night.  Here are a few "matchbook" cards/treat holders I created using Close to My Heart's Moonlight Workshop on the Go papers and stamp set.  They were super easy and super mini, just 3 inches by 4 inches and perfect to fit "treat" sized M&M packages.  Check out the Heart 2 Heart Challenge web page for more ideas for mini cards.

Didn't these turn out cute?  Stay tuned for more info regarding October's Scrappy Creation Class where we will make these as well as two layouts.  Class will be Thursday, October 11th @ 7PM.  Check back in a few days.

Celebrate

This weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge is to create a card using two lines, a circle and square.  Hopefully your are able to see all the elements in this simple "Celebrate" card.  After a fun week of celebrating the 4th, I still haven't had enough fireworks, so I had to incorporate them into this card using Close to My Heart's  American Celebration Stamp Set. I am thinking this card will make a fun birthday card.

The above card is the first of many that we will be making at my 1st Annual Operation Write Home Card Making Party to be held on Thursday, August 16th at 7PM.  Follow the link for more information on how you can help me exceed my goal.

Ribbon Rosette

When I read about the ribbon challenge on this weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge, I immediately thought of these cute ribbon flowers using CTMH's pleated/gathered ribbon, I learned to make from Nona Davenport's Creative University Class a couple years ago.  They are so simple to create and add just the right embellishment to any card or layout. I don't know why I don't make them more often.

A Guiding Hand

A mother always gently guides her children throughout all stages of childhood and even on into adulthood, that is why I thought this stamp set would make a perfect Mother's Day card.  I created this card using last year's Pick a Pair Stamp set.  When paired with the Dotty for You papers and the cute bakers twine, it makes for a sweet and simple card.
Thought this card would be perfect for Heart 2 Heart's Mother's Day Challenge and may even use them to show a little teacher appreciation this week too.

So Happy!

This bright and cheery bathroom was the inspiration photo for this week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge.  I love the brightness of this picture as was inspired by the colors and pretty flowers on the shower curtain.
While creating this card, I wanted to add some pink to it, but was liking the simpleness of the orange and green papers on Close to My Heart's  Kraft Die-Cut Cards.  I additionally used this month's promotional papers, "Dotty for You" (purchase for only $5 dollars with an order of $35.00 or more) and CTMH's Baker's Twine.
Can't wait to make someones day with this pretty little card.

Thanks for the inspiration Heart 2 Heart!

Window into My Heart

This weeks Mojo Monday Sketch reminds of a window pane.  It is simple with lots of possibilities.
By using a single sheet of  B&T paper from Close to My Heart's "Dotty for You" paper pack, and mounting the 9 frames on a "smoothie" piece of card stock, I was able to get the desired look I wanted for my card.
I am tempted to try this design with a variety of different papers to get more of a patchwork look.  Who knows, I may have another entry this week.

~Amy

**Remember, the "Dotty for You" paper pack may be purchased for $5 when you place an order of $35.00 or more from the current Close to My Heart Idea Book.

Chicks Dig It!

The new "Dotty for You" papers from Close to My Heart are so cute and springy, I couldn't resist pairing my card with my pretty hydrangas and cute little chick.  Check out the card's I created using Mojo Monday's sketch, while also incorporating some stitching for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge.
This simple "Thank You" card was created by stringing banners on CTMH's baker's twine and then mounting them on a neutral "dotty" B&T.
You can get a totally different look by simply changing your banner colors and/or the color of the baker's twine.
This weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenge was to incorporate stitching.  I love the detail stitching adds to a project, but usually overlook it because of the simplicity of using glue.  I am much more likely to create stitching lines with a pen, stamp a stitched line using the "Sew Happy" stamp set or sand an embossed line and puncture holes onto it to create a faux stitched line.  This week I decided to using baker's twine to stitch a banner together.  By poking holes in top corner of each banner I was able to string or "stitch" the banner togeter.  It was super easy and quick, because all I had to do was attatch the two ends of the twine to the back of the the grey dotty paper.  The banner hangs nicely on the card and even has some movement.  No glue on the paper also enables you to see the inside of the banners for even more color.  I really liked how it turned out.
Make sure to take advantage of Close to My Heart's, National Scrapbooking Month promotion.  Purchase $35 dollors from the Spring and Summer Idea Book and receive the exclusive "Dotty for You" paper's (featured on my card) for only $5.
